As a community based, not-for-profit Pre-school, Larool encourages and receives help from many quarters - from parents of children at Larool, but also from external businesses.
Formally, the Pre-school is managed by a committee of dedicated parents who are elected onto the Management Committee at the AGM each February. A team of parents, known as SPLAT, are responsible for all the social and fundraising activities of the Pre-school. But the Pre-school could not thrive without the support of the wider parent community and businesses from the local area.
Business Community
Many businesses kindly and generously donated goods, services or cash for us to use at our Trivia and Games nights which are held each year as our major fundraising activity. In the past, money raised at these events has allowed us to carry out major improvement works such as:
- resurfacing the playground
- installing new playground shade-cloth
- replacing our iconic wide yellow slide
- purchasing a new classroom piano

How can you help (without doing much)
As a parent, we know that your time is short, and that the life of a parent of young children is a very busy one. Below is a list of things that you can do that help Larool immensely, while each individual thing won't take long, or can be done with little effort. if you feel you can find time to do any of the things listed below, speak to the Director, Michelle Healey.
Get snipping
Collect and cut up used wrapping paper ready for collage pasting craft

Collect a packet of paper or fabric from Michelle and cut it into collage pieces in front of the telly.

Cut out appropriate pictures from old magazines. What to cut: pictures of flowers, people, food, plants, animals, letters, shapes, children, vehicles.
The pre-school newsletter. A mix of business & pleasure, write a piece about your favourite park, a top tip or a family outing. All pieces either in fundraising box or email splat@laroolpreschool.com.au

offer to take the dress ups and run them through your washing machine. If any of them need mending or adjusting and you can’t fix it yourself, let your class parent know.

take home the box of Barbies and get them to wash their clothes in a bucket on the back lawn on a sunny day. With a portable airer and some pegs and they will be busy for ages.

the Pre-school collection of My Little Pony’s is looking a little lack-lustre. Take them home one weekend, give them a good scrub down and groom and they will come up like new equines
Cooking
During the year SPLAT provides food at events such as Orientation mornings/Christmas party. Tell your class parent if you are willing to provide a plate and they will let you know what is needed and when.
Collect (reduce, reuse, recycle). All these things are used at Pre-school. Please collect them at your house and bring them in for the kids/teachers to use.

PLEASE NOTE: We can not use recycled egg cartons (allergy issue) or toilet roll cores (hygiene issue), so please don’t collect these for us.
